To date, 37 species of Lithops have been discovered in nature, and in addition there are a large number of subspecies, variations, forms and cultivars. No matter how similar individuals may be within the same Lithops species, just as no two fingerprints are identical, no two Lithops are identical, no matter how much it may seem at first glance. It is precisely their incredible range of variability that drives us collectors to more and more plants, and in the end there is no end, so we fall into the disease called collector addiction. 🙂
